FLEA MARKET BLOG BY L

This blog is about flea markets and sale places I have personally been to or actually sold at. There many flea market sale blogs out there, what makes this one different is that the markets I tell you about will be one’s that I have actually participated at. This makes the blog more personal and I believe more informational. I also plan on providing pictures. Hope this is a helpful blog. I’m going to try to organize this blog by state, if that doesn’t work out I will try another method.

KENTUCKY
You will initially get a lot of information from this state, because I have lived here for the past 25 years, and have been selling for about that long.

LAKE CUMBERLAND FLEA MARKET
606-678-0250 914 by-pass Somerset, KY

Indoor/outdoor market open all year - Sat & Sun Indoor 9:00 - 5:00 Outdoor 7:00 - 5:00
First of all let me say, if you are looking for a busy indoor market, this is the place to be from October to whenever you pull out. I set up here indoors about 10 years ago, and it is still as busy as ever. The only reason I don’t go to an indoor market, is that I prefer to be outside, even in the dead of winter. What can I say, I’m a little weird.

There are 200 indoor booths. Prices are reasonable. You will need to call for prices. They have food and restroom facilities on site.

The outdoor market is where I like to be. Even though it is very slow when it gets cold, you will find some die hearts like me, out there. There 100 outdoor tables under roof. Of course in the winter it is not going to be very full outside at all. Even though this is a very busy market for indoor vendors, the outside is still growing. One reason is that the outdoor market had to be build behind the indoor market and you cannot see it from the road. I believe this has lot to do with traffic with any market. However, a new four lane is about to be connected to this by-pass, and I believe traffic will be busy next summer. Even though the outside is not as busy as the other market in Somerset, the customers do spend when they come here.

Outside has electricity, is under roof, over a concrete pad, out door bathroom facilities, and you can also hook up a camper if you want to like my friends Wink and Margaret. Tables can be reserved for the whole season, summer, or for the month. You name will be placed on the table, if you are not going to be there for a day or weekend, they will rent your tables. If you rent an outside table the price is 8.00, inside go for 6.00. If you rent 2 outside and inside the price drops to 6.00 for each table. Most of us rent at least 2 and go to 4. If you need a lot of space, you can rent a large area in the grass right next to shed. Some of us also leave our stuff there under tarps from week to week as long as we are returning the following week to sell. So far, that has been working out. I don’t like to pack my stuff every week, so I just tarp it and leave it.
I like the customers, and the other vendors, as well as the management staff. That has a lot to do with you flea market experience. If the other vendors or the management staff are dicks, it makes selling as a vendor hard.

There are many vendors here that sell a variety of items. Ralph, pictured with me above sells tool handles, old glassware, and metal signs. Mark (catfish man) sells guess what fresh catfish that he catches weekly from the lake system in Somerset. We have a pop man (Bill).

Ed and LuAnn sell movies, books, camo, green plants in the spring, video games, movies, home interior glassware, and whatever they can find. They live in Kentucky and Florida, and split their time between both states selling.

Jenny, sells fruit and vegetables. Her parents sell antiques of all kinds, mainly primitive.

Barb and Jerry are regular weekly customers, and friends that I met at the flea market. We have known each other for 2+ years.
If you come out look for me, my name is Linda, or Lynn as some of them call me. I look forward to hearing from you. The pictures I have included were taken the first week of November so some of the regular vendors have all ready moved inside.
Hope this info helps with market, if you have any questions, call the numbers listed, Bill will be glad to help you. Make sure you told him you got the information from my blog. Happy marketing, L.
